Easy to install
Fiat 500 key covers can be a great way to make your keys more modern. You can pick from a wide range of styles and colors to choose the one that best fits your personality. They can be installed by yourself in ten minutes. You'll need an screwdriver and some time. The first step is to take off the original cover from your key. The original cover must be removed before the replacement cover can be put in place.
Once you have removed the old cover Use a flathead screwdriver to pull out the four major attachment clips on the side that is on the passenger side of the fob assembly. They are marked in red on the picture below. Also note the tabs that locate slots shown in yellow that need to be disengaged as well.
After removing the battery, replace it with a new # CR2032 3 Volt coin cell battery. Make sure that the "+" positive side of the battery corresponds to the opening of the fob and that the"-" negative side is facing the rubber buttons.
Attach the cover for the passenger side mirror by aligning locating tabs. After you have done this, place the driver side fob back in your vehicle and test it by pressing the push button on the front of the car key. If everything is working correctly, the parking lights should be on and the doors will shut.

After you remove the metal keys you will see a small silver switch that features images of a padlock that are unlocked and locked next to it. This is the key fob battery switch. It is easy to change the battery by turning the switch a quarter turn using an inexpensive screwdriver that is flat.
The key fob contains the microchip that connects to the Body Control Module. When you insert your Fiat key, it presses a button in the ignition switch that is used to remind you of the "key-inignition". The BCM will then read the transponder on the key fob to verify the validity of the key.
You can also add a sport design twin pack to your key covers to give it an unique and funky appearance. These covers snap into place over the original cover. They are available in Cream and Silver. The key cover will only work in the event that you remove the black cover from your key fob.
